Chat room safety
Chat rooms are a dangerous place for both teens and adults, although some chat sites boast about advanced protection, you cannot FULLY secure the chat rooms it always comes down the the common sense of the users. If something sounds to good to be true, it more than likely is. This doesn't mean we leave it totally up to you guys to defend yourselves, we do have good methods of fishing out the trouble makers, predators and people who are just trying to cause harm to your and others.
Adult Safety
common problems with adult chat rooms is that you will find members trying to make you open links or add email addresses, some people may promise you a cam show or a site you might find interesting. More info on external links is coming up.
Our Solution
We've completely removed the ability for anyone to submit a clickable link into the chat rooms, if someone uses an illegal work or a link it will be sent into the rooms or private message as *BLEEP*. Alternatively some people have got around this and use 2 v's for a w, but this is not a clickalbe link.
Teen Safety
The same problem as above applies to teen safety aswell as online predators. Unfortunatley this is a big problem for teen chat rooms and alot of good chat rooms have been closed down because of this. You don't know who is telling the truth on chat rooms, someone you might consider as your friend could be lying about age, location, sex anything.
Our Solution
Some have criticized our tactics and others have agreed it is really the only way of making the chat safe. We rely on the users of the chat rooms to report suspecious activity, all cases are then investigated. We extract important information by EVERYONE that logs into our chat rooms. A staff member will then pose as a minor and try to engage in conversation with the suspect and 9 times out of 10 we will catch them out. Then we will remove them from the chat site and prevent them from every coming back and contact the www.ceop.gov.uk and www.virtualglobaltaskforce.com send them our logs and let the authorities deal with them.
Things you can do which will get you banned
Do not give out any personal information which will identify you as an individual, do not tell people what school you go to or where you live. Do not give out information like passwords and we do not give you email address to other people inside the chat rooms
Please be aware of the risks and don't take everything serious in the chat rooms. Our site has been built to the guidelines on that can be found on the webmasters guide on ChatDanger.com. We cannot be there 24/7 let your common sense guide you to a safe chat. We have automatic server messages remind people of certain chat command on how to deal with annoying people and how to contact us. All the chat pages are fitted with a 'Contact Us' button.
